Great article!

By the way, your Separett Villa might not look stylish but it's probably a lot more palatable to the general public than our DIY'd bucket-within-a-box-with-lid : )

haha, yes it is certainly a step in the right direction for making composting toilets acceptable to a wider audience.

I'm off down a right rabbit hole now 😆 a good one mind, this is fascinating to read and as we're about to re-do our bathroom, very timely.

Great article Tom, so interesting that this demonstrates how removed we've become from our place in the ecosystem, and the only thing in the way of that is something to do with ego or shame... Thanks for sharing, have already been on a search online!

Thanks Lucy! Yeah I think we have really become disconnected and have developed a level of ingrained cultural denial. Glad you enjoyed it and all the best with the search :-)

Love this! Thanks for sharing. I am still wondering how to do this in my Berlin city apartment - as you pointed out, the infrastructure is lacking, but we just got one for a little hut outside the city. We are growing a forest garden there and my research led me to using humanure is one of the best fertilisers 🌳.

Amazing to hear! Yeah I think there are possible solutions for apartment buildings but I don't know whether that needs to be implemented at a construction level or could work at an individual apartment level I'm not sure. In my mind I imagine some sort of capsule system that gets collected weekly and taken for composting.

Your forest garden sounds exciting. I'd love to hear more about it some time :-)
